He was taken into custody after weapons were recovered from MLA Veeri’s luggage.

The National Conference leader was going to Jammu. During this, a general scanning of his luggage was done at the airport. There were two rounds of ammo in his backpack. He was detained and taken to Humhama police station for questioning. However, MLA Veeri was released after showing the license of the pistol.

Veeri said that first, he showed the soft copy of his valid weapon license, after which the security officials also asked for a hard copy. After showing the hard copy, they allowed me to go ahead.

NC MLA Bashir Ahmed Veeri has said that the cartridges found in his luggage at Srinagar International Airport were of his licensed weapon. The MLA, who was traveling to the winter capital Jammu by Indigo flight, was detained on Sunday after the alleged recovery.

Accusing his opponents of blowing the incident out of proportion, Veeri said, “There was no detention, I was sitting there cordially. They have a SOP of their own. Veeri stated that the event caused him to miss his flight to Jammu and that he would now take the road route.
