National Herald Case: Fresh ED Summons To Rahul Gandhi

National Herald Case: Another ED summons Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, order to appear on June 13.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a fresh summons to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.  According to this, he has to appear before the ED on June 13.

Earlier, he was called on June 2 but Rahul Gandhi, a Lok Sabha member from Wayanad in Kerala, had demanded a second date as he was out of the country.

Officials said that 51-year-old Rahul Gandhi has now been called to the federal agency’s headquarters on June 13.

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi was summoned on 8 June. The case was closed by the investigating agency in 2015.

Congress spokespersons Randeep Singh Surjewala and Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the summons to Congress leaders was a politics of vendetta by the BJP.

On November 1, 2012, Subramanian Swamy filed a case in the Patiala House Court in Delhi.

Apart from Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leaders Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes, Suman Dubey, and Sam Pitroda were made accused in this case.

Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandes have passed away. Now the matter is presently going on in the special court at Rouse Avenue.

It is alleged that Young Indian Private Limited obtained the right of recovery of Rs 90.25 crore of Associated Journals, whereas only Rs 50 lakh was paid to get this right.

Young India Private Limited in the throes of controversies for a decade.

Young India Private Limited, a company formed in the year 2010, has been in the midst of controversies for the past decade and the matter was first raised by Rajya Sabha member Swamy in 2012.

He had given a complaint in Delhi’s Patiala House court alleging misappropriation of the Congress high command.

In this case, on 19 December 2015, the Patiala House Court granted regular bail to all the accused including Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, and former president Rahul Gandhi.

Taking cognizance of the Income Tax Department and ED also started an investigation in the matter. In the case registered in the year 2014, the ED had also attached assets worth Rs 64 crore in the year 2019.
