MP Ravikumar strongly condemns JIPMER Hospital’s announcement: Free treatment only if you have a red ration card.

MP Ravikumar has condemned the order issued by the director of the hospital to have a red family card to get free treatment at JIPMER Hospital.

JIPMER was founded in 1823 in Pondicherry. JIPMER currently operates as a medical education and research hospital with 2,300-bed facilities.

8,000 outpatients and 2,000 inpatients are treated daily. Poor people from many states also come here for treatment and benefit.

According to a statement issued by the management of Jimper Hospital, ‘according to the Puducherry Poverty Line Measure, Jimper Hospital provides free treatment to those earning less than Rs 2,499 per month.

Since the emergence of JIPMER as a hospital of national importance, people have come to Zimmer Hospital for treatment from all over India.

All treatment, including outpatients from any state of India, will be provided free of cost only to ration cardholders who are below the poverty line.

In order to get free treatment, the ration card for those below the poverty line issued by the respective state government must be brought.

The order will come into effect from October 1. This announcement by the hospital management caused controversy

The announcement of the fixing of fees at the government hospital caused outrage among the public.

In a statement, Villupuram district MP Ravikumar said, ‘I condemn the management of Jimper Hospital. The Director of JIPMER Hospital has ordered that only those earning less than Rs.

The announcement shows that all treatments will no longer be charged. Is JIPMER Hospital a government hospital or a private hospital?

It is not only practicable but also illegal for a patient to carry a ration card with them when they come for treatment.

I strongly condemn the director who issued this order. I urge the management of  JIPMER Hospital to withdraw this order immediately. ‘
