Media and entertainment world suffered heavy losses due to the Corona crisis: The central government said, According to the information given in the Lok Sabha, the media and entertainment industry has suffered a lot due to Covid-19 in India. A recent report has estimated that the revenue of these industries has fallen by 16 percent due to this global epidemic.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that no package has been announced at present for the Indian film industry and television industry. But for them, the sector will also benefit from restructuring loan schemes in the MSME sector and announcing a special relief package.
He said that the media and entertainment industry in the country has suffered heavily due to Covid-19. According to the Crisil report, the media and entertainment industry has lost 16 percent in revenue due to this epidemic. He also said that the government has also issued in-principle guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOP) for the functioning of media production houses for the prevention of Covid-19.
In another question asked how to prevent ‘media trial’ on cases under consideration in courts, Javadekar said that private satellite TV is bound by the rules given under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. If a program or advertisement violates these rules, then a scroll of advice, warning or apology is run on that private channel.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar further said that if the matter becomes more serious, then that channel is directed to go off air for a certain period of time or to stop broadcasting. In the last ten years, there have been a total of 35 cases to stop private satellite channels. The stopping period can be from one day to 30 days.
