Major Reshuffle In Congress, Ghulam Nabi Azad Removed

Major reshuffle in Congress, five general secretaries including Ghulam Nabi Azad removed; Rahul’s close friends got a place in the organization. In the first major reshuffle in the Congress after the letter controversy, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has not strictly imposed a ban on party leaders writing letters.

Conversely, to protect the party from political breakdown showing political maturity, along with the new leaders of Rahul Gandhi’s supporters, senior leaders of the party have also been given a place in the organization and policy-making unit of the Congress. A five-member Central Election Committee of the party has also been formed to elect the new president of Congress.

Major reshuffle in Congress. In this major change, five general secretaries including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, and Mallikarjun Kharge have been removed. He has been replaced by Randeep Surjewala, Tariq Anwar, and Jitendra Singh as general secretaries.

Jitin Prasad and Rajiv Shukla, who were among those who wrote the controversial papers, have also been given charge of the states, taking charge for the first time. Sachin Rao, a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, has been included as a special invitee to the Working Committee.

By keeping Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma in the top working committee of the Congress and promoting Jitin Prasad, the high command has also tried to send a message of the closure of the chapter on the dispute.

Formation of a special committee of six members

Sonia Gandhi has also constituted a special committee of six members as per the assurance given in the working committee, after the ruckus regarding the letter related to the change in the Congress organization. Till the next AICC session in which the new president of the party is to be elected, this committee will provide special assistance in the functioning of the Congress president.

However, no leader related to the letter dispute has been retained in this committee. AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik, and Randeep Surjewala have been made members of the committee.

The high command has given a message to the party cadre along with the leaders dissatisfied with the formation of the Central Election Authority that a new president of the party will be elected within the next six months.

Madhusudan Mistry has been made the chairman of this election authority, while Rajesh Mishra, Krishna Biragowda, S. Jyotimani, and Arvinder Singh Lovely have been made its members.

Harish Rawat was given the charge of the Secretary General of Punjab

Besides Kharge, Azad, Ambika, the five general secretaries removed include Motilal Vora and Luzino Falerio. Azad himself, after writing the letter, himself said that he should be relieved of the post of general secretary. Three new general secretaries in place of him are Tariq Anwar to Kerala and Lakshadweep, Randeep Surjewala to Karnataka and Jitendra Singh to Assam.

Apart from this, Anugraha Narayan Singh, Asha Kumari, Gaurav Gogoi, and Ram Chandra Khuntia were removed from the posts in-charge of the states. Harish Rawat has been given the charge of Punjab as General Secretary.

Rajiv Shukla was also given the responsibility

Jitin Prasad, while independently in charge, has been made in charge of Andaman-Nicobar along with an important state like West Bengal. Rajiv Shukla has been given the responsibility of administering the Congress headquarters in place of Motilal Vora as incharge of Himachal Pradesh, Pawan Bansal.

Karnataka leader Dinesh Gundurao has been conferred with Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Goa, Manikkam Tagore close to Rahul Gandhi, Telangana to Chellakumar, HK Patil to Maharashtra, Devendra Yadav to Uttarakhand, Manish Chatrath to Arunachal Pradesh, Bhaktacharan Das to Mizoram and Manipur, and Kuljit Nagra. Has been placed in charge of Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura.

While Sonia Gandhi has retained some senior leaders to maintain balance in the Congress Working Committee, the party’s top unit, many young faces close to Rahul have also given it a place. Names like Sachin Rao, Manikkam Tagore, Susmita Dev are prominent in it. Digvijay Singh and Salman Khurshid again got a place in the Working Committee as a special invitee.
