Maharashtra government: Big decision is taken, Approval to make ‘Shakti’ law on the lines of ‘Disha’ law of Andhra Pradesh. In view of the increasing crimes against women and children.

Thackeray government of Maharashtra has approved the drafting of a ‘Shakti’ law on the lines of Andhra Pradesh’s ‘Disha’ law in the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The next two-day Legislature session on 14 and 15 December will introduce a bill relating to power legislation.

Let us know that the two-day winter session of the Legislature is going to start in Mumbai from 14 December.

The law provides for stringent punishment including death penalty, life imprisonment and heavy fines and speedy trial of the accused.

After the approval of both houses of the Legislature, it will be sent to the Central Government.

The draft of this bill to be implemented in the state also includes the necessary proposal to amend the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, CRPC, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

In the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh approved the draft of the Bill.

The bill will be introduced in the state legislature during the two-day winter session starting on 14 December.

The bill will be brought for discussion and approval in both houses of the Legislature. After enactment of the law, it will be called the ‘Act of Power’.

Home Minister Deshmukh said that under this law, a provision has been made to conduct a full investigation of the case within 15 days and a hearing within 30 days.

It may be noted that Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had announced a stringent law for the state on the lines of ‘Disha’ law after the incident in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh.

The Home Minister said that a strong law is needed to curb female atrocities in the state. In view of this, the draft ‘Shakti’ law has been approved on the lines of ‘Disha’ law of Andhra Pradesh.
