The cabinet of the Madhya Pradesh government approved the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Bill-2020 on 26 December to enact strict laws against Love Jihad.
The bill provides for imprisonment for a maximum period of ten years and a fine of up to one lakh rupees in case of marriage and any other fraudulent conversion.
According to the provision made in the Bill, the person committing and conducting the conversion will have to inform the District Magistrate (Collector) sixty days in advance.
The proposed period was one month. If this information is not given and the conversion is done then imprisonment for three to five years and a fine of fifty thousand rupees can be imposed.
A violation of the Act provides for imprisonment for a maximum of 10 years and a fine of one lakh rupees.
If any person commits conversion by means of inducement, threat, use of force, or fraudulent means, action will be taken against him.
The state government is trying to prevent the occurrence of love jihad under any pressure or greed in the state. Explain that there is already a law against Love Jihad in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
At the same time, there is a preparation to make law in Haryana also Law has been announced in Karnataka too.
Girish Gautam elected unopposed president
The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly started on Monday. In this, Girish Gautam of BJP was elected unopposed president.
Governor Anandiben Patel lauded the steps taken by the government in the adverse circumstances of the Corona transition. He said that the state will also move towards a self-reliant India.
The government’s focus will be on employment and agriculture as well as health. After this, the assembly was adjourned till Tuesday.
The Assembly’s session will continue till March 26, following corona-related rules including physical distance.
