Madhya Pradesh By-Election: Scindia’s Popularity At Stake

Madhya Pradesh By-Election: By-election will decide the new direction of veterans’ stature and politics. The by-elections in the 28 assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh on November 3 will prove to be decisive from the perspective of power-politics and will remain historical and memorable for the country.

These elections will directly decide the power of the state, as well as the stature of veterans and the new direction of politics. The maximum 16 seats are in the Gwalior-Chambal region, which is the stronghold of Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia. Since Scindia is now in the BJP, he too has to show his strength.

These are the seats where the Congress won by a large margin. Now it is a challenge for the BJP to bring them to its account. At the same time, for the first time, Congress will be in the election field without Scindia, then it also has to prove that without them it is strong here.

BJP needs nine seats to save the government

The BJP needs nine seats to retain power, while the Congress will have to win all seats to return. In the by-election, the treasury of the ruling party is always heavy, so the path does not seem easy for the Congress, but it does not lessen the difficulties of the BJP.

If the Congress crosses the 100 mark after the results, it will not let the government sit quietly for the next three years.

Scindia’s future will be determined by election results

The ordeal of the by-elections is becoming a test for veterans as well. At the center of the by-election is Scindia, who holds a large stature from the Center to Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP has also made him a member of the Rajya Sabha, but now the election results will determine his further political journey and his influence in the Gwalior-Chambal region.

Congress would like to prove in the by-election that Scindia’s influence was the party’s contribution. Scindia faces a big challenge to reverse this claim.

Nath-Digvijay’s skill test

State Congress President Kamal Nath and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh have made this by-election a question of prestige. The weak performance of the Congress will affect his stature. At the same time, it will also be difficult to question Scindia’s change of face. This test of organizational skills of Nath and Digvijay is being considered.

Shivraj’s popularity is also at stake

Here, the credibility and popularity of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is also at stake. Chauhan, who specializes in the by-elections, would not want the current by-election to be the reason for his getting off the chair.

Due to this, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and State President VD Sharma are constantly engaged in mobilization of workers.

BSP may benefit

The BSP can also benefit in a collision between the BJP and the Congress. In the 2018 election, the BSP finished second and third in many seats. Now that all the equations have changed between BJP and Congress, the BSP is taking forward the issue of trust to take advantage of it. He is also eyeing social engineering.

Party position in MP Assembly

The total number of members in the MP Legislative Assembly is 230. It has 28 seats vacant. In the current round, BJP has 107 MLAs, Congress 88, BSP two, SP one and four Independents. After the by-election, a majority of 116 MLAs are required. The Congress needs nine MLAs to keep the BJP in power.
