The committee headed by BJP MP Sunil Singh will take up the matter related to the breach of privilege complaint by Maharashtra MP Navneet Rana next week.

Several officers of Maharashtra were summoned.

A complaint was lodged with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha by Navneet Rana, after which the committee summoned several officials from Maharashtra.

The Amravati MP had written to the Privileges and Ethics Committee of Parliament alleging breach of privilege. He had alleged illegal arrest and inhuman treatment at Khar police station.

The party was kept on 23 May.

Navneet Rana appeared before the  Privileges Committee on 23 May and presented her side.

On 25 April, Navneet Rana complained of a serious breach of privilege to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who referred it to the Committee of Privileges.

After this, the Privilege Committee summoned Maharashtra Chief Secretary Manu Kumar Srivastava, Director General of Police Rajnish Seth, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey, and Women District Jail Superintendent, Byculla (Mumbai) Yashwant Bhanudas.

Navneet Rana and her husband were arrested.

Significantly, the Mumbai Police arrested Navneet and her MLA husband Ravi Rana on April 23.
