Lahore High Court reprimands police, orders immediate release of PTI leader Qureshi.

Lahore High Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of  Vice President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

He has been arrested many times since his first arrest.  Shah Mehmood Qureshi was arrested on May 9 following violent protests.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi was the foreign minister in the Imran government.

The 66-year-old Qureshi served as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan from 2018 to 2022 during the tenure of Imran Khan.

He is among the top PTI leaders arrested following violent protests following the arrest of Imran Khan on May 9. He has been arrested many times since his first arrest.

The Pakistan-based leading TV channel reported that while hearing the complaint against Qureshi’s arrest, the Lahore High Court on Tuesday ordered no further arrests of Qureshi.

Court orders immediate release.

Judge Chaudhary Abdul Aziz, who presided over the trial, also declared Rawalpindi’s MPO Deputy Commissioner’s order illegal.

The Justice directed the authorities to release Qureshi immediately without submitting a bail bond. During the hearing, the court asked the court official whether Qureshi spoke or led a protest.

Directing the law officer to produce evidence against the former external affairs minister, “No political leader can control his words at a political rally,” the court said.”

Here, the officer has asked for two days’ time to submit the evidence.

However, the court directed him to update the court within an hour of taking instructions from the government. After this, the court adjourned the hearing for an hour.

Many cases have been registered against Qureshi.

There are nine cases registered against Qureshi in the entire Punjab. Of these, four were recorded in Lahore, while five were recorded at different police stations in Multan.
