KP Oli Took Over The Charge Of The Defense Ministry In Nepal

KP Oli took over the charge of the Defense Ministry, removing the pro-China Pokharel, a major reshuffle before the visit to MM Narwana. In Nepal, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has retained the Ministry of Defense by removing the pro-China Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel.

In the latest expansion, Oli has inducted three new ministers into the cabinet, including Finance Minister Vishnu Paudel. While Pokharel has been attached to the Prime Minister’s Office.

It is said that this change in the cabinet is not satisfied with the working president of the party and strong rival of Oli, Pushp Kamal Dahal Prachanda but he has not said anything yet.

According to ardent supporters, this expansion of the cabinet has been unilateral in which Oli has included only his special people. Be aware that there has been a lot of tussle between Oli and Prachanda in recent months in which both have tried to shake each other’s base in the party.

This first visit by a big Indian official after a year

The post of finance minister in Nepal was vacant for several months. Paudel appointed to that is the General Secretary of the Communist Party. But the way Oli has removed Pokharel from the post of Defense Minister and is holding onto it himself.

He remains in discussion. This change has been made at a time when Indian Army Chief General MM Narwane is coming to Nepal. This will be the first visit of a big Indian official to Nepal after about a year of bitterness between the two countries.

Pokharel is considered a leader leaning towards China. It is said that just before General Narwane’s visit to Nepal, Oli has given a positive message to India by removing Pokharel from the post of Defense Minister and affiliated to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Oli wants India to start diplomatic talks on the border dispute soon, so that they will gain political strength in their country. One of the reasons for the removal of Pokharel could also be that as the head of the Corona Crisis Management Committee, he bought very expensive medical supplies from China.

In the era of economic crisis, Pokharel was severely criticized for making such expensive purchases. There were allegations that there was a disturbance in the purchase. He also did not have good relations with high officials of the army.
