Kiran Bedi has been removed from the post of Lt. Governor of Puducherry. This information has been given in a statement released from Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

Dr. T. Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, has been given the additional charge of Lt. Governor of Puducherry. She will also hold the post till the new appointment. The President’s order in this regard will be in force from the time he takes over.

It may be known that there was a long-running dispute between Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and Kiran Bedi over administrative hurdles.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy met President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi recently. He met the President and submitted a petition to recall Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi.

The statement issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan said that the President has directed that Dr. Kiran Bedi Puducherry has been removed as the Lieutenant Governor and he has appointed Dr. Tamilisai Soundarajan, Governor of Telangana to discharge the additional functions of Lt. Governor of Puducherry.

Appointed for. The statement said that he would continue to perform his duties with his office until regular arrangements were made for the office of lieutenant-governor of Puducherry.

Earlier in the day, Puducherry Social Welfare Minister Kandasamy said that the cabinet headed by Chief Minister Narayanasamy would resign after the resignation of Congress legislators in Puducherry ahead of the assembly elections later this year.

In a video, Kandasamy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Puducherry LG Kiran Bedi have been harassing the Congress government for four and a half years.

Earlier, Congress MLA from Kamaraj Nagar constituency A John Kumar resigned from his post citing dissatisfaction with the Congress government.

Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC) Sunil Arora said that the elections will be held at the same time in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. However, the dates of the elections are yet to be announced.

It is to be known that Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy had opened a front to remove Lt Governor Kiran Bedi in Puducherry. In the past, a dharna demonstration was organized in the state to demand the return of Kiran Bedi.
