Barbarik was said to be the grandson of Bhima and the son of Ghatotkacha. He wanted to participate in the Mahabharata war. On this, his mother told him to support the loser in the war.

Shri Krishna knew that if Barbarika supported the Kaurava army after seeing its defeat, then the war would go in favor of the Kauravas.

In such a situation, Lord Krishna asked for Barbarik’s head as a donation. Then Barbarik ji also offered his head at the feet of Shri Krishna.

Lord Krishna was very happy about this. After the war ended, Shri Krishna blessed Barbarik’s head and threw it into the Rupavati river.

The head was found here.

It is believed that after the beginning of Kaliyuga, the head of Barbarik ji was found buried in the earth in Khatu village of Sikar.

When a cow was passing through this place, milk started flowing from her udders on its own.

The villagers were astonished to see this and they got him excavated at the place. The head of Barbarik ji was found during the excavation.

On the other hand, King Roop Singh of Khatu village had a dream in which he was ordered to build a temple and install the head in it and the king did the same.

It is believed that where Khatu Shyam’s pond is located today, the head of Barbarik ji was also found there. For this reason, this pond also has special recognition.
