Kerala Legislative Assembly: 140 MLAs To Take Oath Today

Kerala Legislative Assembly: 140 Kerala MLAs to take oath today, will officially enter the 15th assembly.

140 newly-elected MLAs in Kerala Legislative Assembly will take the oath of office and secrecy on Friday. They will officially enter the 15th Assembly of Kerala. The oath will be read by a pro-tem speaker.

The pro-tem speaker will be elected by Pinnarai Vijayan’s new meeting. The newly elected government of Kerala was formed on Thursday after it was sworn in by Governor Arif Muhammad Khan .

After taking the oath of Chief Minister Vijayan and the other 20 cabinet members, the entire cabinet will go to the Tea Party at the official residence of Governor Khan.

They will then go to the state secretariat for the first cabinet meeting.

The ruling Left Front has 99 members besides the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the 15th Assembly of Kerala. The Congress-led opposition alliance has 41 MLAs.

The CPI (M) has proposed the name of MB Rajesh, a two-time member of the Lok Sabha, for the post of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The election of the Speaker will be a mere formality.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sworn in as Chief Minister.

On Thursday, Pinarayi Vijayan (77) was sworn in as the Chief Minister. He has become the Chief Minister of the state for the second consecutive time.

Along with him, 20 ministers have also taken an oath of office and secrecy. Vijayan and his ministers were sworn in by Governor Arif Muhammad Khan in a simple ceremony held at the Central Stadium amid the Corona transition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Vijayan for assuming the post of Chief Minister for the second time. Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also congratulated Vijayan.

Leaders of the Congress-led UDF alliance did not attend the swearing-in ceremony. But state Congress veteran Ramesh Chennithala congratulated Vijayan on the phone.

The ceremony was attended by CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and other senior party leaders. The ceremony was held in the presence of a limited number of people under the guidelines of the High Court.
