Karnataka Government Reverses Old Statement In Supreme Court

Karnataka government reverses old statement in SC: Now Rohingya will be deported out of India.

BJP-led Karnataka government reverses old statement in Supreme Court.

The BJP-led Karnataka government has filed a revised affidavit in the Supreme Court on the deportation of Rohingyas and retracted from its earlier statement.

In fact, the Karnataka government had told the Supreme Court that there are about 72 Rohingyas in Bengaluru, but there are no immediate plans to deport them.

However, now in a new affidavit, the government has reversed its statement. The state government’s reply to non-deport was on a PIL filed by BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay.

Upadhyay has sought direction from the apex court to deport the Rohingya people.

In its latest affidavit, the Home Department said, “Karnataka State Police has not kept Rohingyas in any camp or center under its jurisdiction. However, 126 Rohingyas have been identified in Karnataka.

Earlier in a written reply, the state government had said, “Bengaluru City Police has not kept Rohingyas in any camp or detention center under its jurisdiction.

However, 72 Rohingyas have been identified in Bengaluru city who are working in different sectors.

Bengaluru City Police is yet to take any legal action against them. There are no immediate plans to deport him.

Along with this, it was said in the petition that the government should be directed to change the law and make provisions for cognizable offenses and non-equality offenses against illegal infiltrators because they have got illegal ration cards and PAN and Aadhar cards.

The state government has also provided the names of Rohingya refugees living in the north-eastern division of the city.

All Rohingya people, except children under the age of 12, have been given a personal identification number by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
