Hong Kong calls sanctions `unreasonable’.
Hong Kong officials called the restrictions “absurd” and called on Japanese authorities to withdraw them.
Officials say 60,000 passengers and about 250 flights will be affected between December and January 2023, before connecting the three airports for flights from Hong Kong and Macao.
These countries have made Covid testing mandatory, India, Italy, South Korea, and Taiwan have also made COVID-19 testing mandatory for travelers from China.
The US said on Wednesday that it would require testing for all travelers from China starting January 5.
South Korea announced on Friday that it will also require travelers from China to present a negative PCR test result within 48 hours of departure or a rapid antigen test within 24 hours of departure.
