Delhi-NCR Becoming a Terrorist Hideout
Is Delhi-NCR Becoming a Terrorist Hideout? With the arrest of 63 terrorists in six years, concerns rise over Delhi-NCR becoming a terrorist hideout. How are security agencies responding to this growing threat?
With the arrest of two terrorists within a week from Delhi and Faridabad, questions have arisen whether Delhi-NCR is becoming a hideout for terrorists. Two terrorists named Parvez Ahmed Khan and Abdul Rehman were hiding in Delhi and Faridabad, and the NCR police did not get a clue about it.
When such an incident comes to light in the country’s capital, it is being considered as a weakening of the network of central agencies and local intelligence. When the specialized units of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Gujarat Police came to know about the hideout of the terrorists, they reached Delhi-NCR and arrested both of them with the help of local police.
From time to time, Delhi Police also calls police officers from different states to Delhi and conducts interstate coordination meetings, in which claims are made about an exchange of confidential information.
Coordination meetings are held between the state police and the central security agencies, yet the lack of information about the terrorists taking shelter raises many questions.
However, the anti-terrorist unit of Delhi Police, Special Cell, has expertise in catching terrorists. If we look at the data of the last six years, the Special Cell has arrested 63 terrorists by taking action across the country, including Delhi.
Terrorist Parvez Ahmed Khan, who was caught from a guest house in Nizamuddin Basti, used to send money through hawala to Pakistani terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba, TRF and Hizbul Mujahideen.
He was working as an important link in the financial network of various terrorist organizations. Abdul Rehman, who was arrested from Pali village in Faridabad on Sunday, is also said to have connections with Pakistani terrorist organizations.
The police claim that both were working for different terrorist groups. Neither knows each other. But, their arrest from Delhi NCR also raises the question whether Pakistani terrorist organizations want to establish their roots here again after a long time. This is not the first case of terrorists being arrested from NCR. Many terrorists have been arrested from Ghaziabad from time to time.
