IREDA Invites Bids From Solar Module Manufacturers

IREDA invites bids for the Centre’s Rs 4,500 crore solar PLI scheme.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) on Friday invited bids from solar module manufacturers to set up solar manufacturing units under the Centre’s Rs 4,500-crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

The Center had approved the scheme to promote domestic manufacturing of Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) modules. These modules also called solar panels, use sunlight as a source of energy to generate direct electricity.

IREDA is the implementing agency of the scheme.

Let us inform you that the last date for submission of application for the PLI scheme is June 30, 2021. The selection process for successful bidders is to be completed by July 30.

IREDA had released the invitation for application documents on its website on May 25 and the electronic application process went live on May 31.

The ministry said that at present, solar capacity addition mainly depends on the import of solar PV cells and modules as the domestic industry is limited in this sector.
