Intense Brainstorming In Delhi On Amarnath Yatra

Intense brainstorming in Delhi on Amarnath Yatra and security, issue of granting full statehood also raised.

There has been an intense brainstorming in Delhi this Sunday on the annual Amarnath Yatra starting from June 28 and the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who arrived in Delhi with his administrative staff in a hurry, held a marathon meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Sinha has apprised about the internal security scenario of the state, issues related to Amarnath Yatra hanging in the balance due to Corona and resumption of political process.

On this, Amit Shah has indicated to take a final decision on the issue of conducting or canceling the Amarnath Yatra only after consultation with security agencies.

Instructions were also given to increase communication with the public and intensify the anti-terrorist operation. The delimitation process, covid management and unlock process have also been discussed in the meeting.

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh and Chief Secretary AK Mehta, Intelligence Bureau chief Arvind Kumar were also present in the meeting.

An official statement regarding the meeting was not issued till late in the evening. Sources said that the meeting started with the Amarnath Yatra.

Apart from options to allow limited number of pilgrims and helicopters to the holy cave due to Corona, talks have been held to cancel the yatra this time as well.

It was agreed that the final decision would be taken to conduct or cancel the yatra in coordination with the concerned departments and agencies.

The issue of granting full statehood was raised:

Sources said that the issue of granting full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir was raised in the meeting to speed up the political process in Jammu and Kashmir and to create an atmosphere for the assembly elections.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has given his stand regarding the process of delimitation.

Will get all possible cooperation from the Center:

Home Minister Amit Shah directed to increase communication with the public, intensify the anti-terrorist campaign, besides taking necessary steps to bring the corona infection rate to the minimum level.

The unlock process should be taken forward based on the review of the situation.

He has assured cooperation from the Center to maintain the environment of security, development and to make the war against Corona successful.

Discussion on anti-terrorist operations: The situation arising out of the killing of BJP leader Rakesh Pandita in Tral of Pulwama, security of political leaders and workers along with anti-terrorist operations have been discussed.

The Director General of Police gave detailed information on the issues related to the operations being conducted against the terrorists, security cover ready for the yatra, security of the leaders.

It has also been agreed to formulate a well-defined policy for the protection of political leaders and workers.
