India’s 17-year-old Female Wrestler Antim Panghal Won Gold

India’s 17-year-old female wrestler Antim Panghal has created history in the ongoing Under-20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

India’s Antim Panghal created history and became the first female wrestler to win gold in the Under-20 World Championship.

She achieved this feat by defeating Altyn Shagayba of Kazakhstan 8-0 in the final match. She has become the first female wrestler from India to win a gold medal in this event.

This wrestler of 53 kg weight category dominated in every match.

In the first match, she defeated European wrestler Olivia Andrich 11–0 on the basis of technical proficiency. She then defeated Ayaka Kimura of Japan within a minute.

In front of this Indian lioness, only a Ukrainian wrestler could last for 6 minutes, but there was no significant change in the result here too.

She defeated the Ukrainian wrestler 11-2. Her achievement has proved that the time has come for Indian wrestling.

Talking about Commonwealth 2022, India had won 12 medals in wrestling, out of which 6 were gold medals.

This was India’s best performance in the Commonwealth Games. India already has star female wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik in wrestling.

The story of the last who hails from Bhagana in Haryana is very interesting. The youngest of four sisters, the inspiration for wrestling came from her sister Sarita.

Although Sarita has been a kabaddi player she always wanted her sister to fight in wrestling. It was in 2004 when the fourth daughter was born to Ram Niwas Panghal and Krishna Kumari.

The father kept the daughter’s name last thinking that no more daughter is needed. But today the same daughter along with her father has illuminated the name of the entire village.
