Indian Navy’s ‘Third Eye’ Foils Drug Smuggling: INS Tarkash, aided by the Indian Navy’s ‘third eye’ P8I surveillance aircraft, intercepted a suspicious ship in the western Indian Ocean, seizing 2,500 kg of drugs. This major maritime operation highlights the Navy’s role in combating drug smuggling.

Navy’s ‘third eye’ did wonders, 2500 kg of drugs recovered in the middle of the sea. Indian Navy’s leading warship INS Tarkash has seized more than 2,500 kg of drugs in the western Indian Ocean. On March 31, the Navy received information about the suspicious activities of some ships. After this, these drugs were seized by conducting a campaign. This substance contains 121 kg of heroin and 2,386 kg of hashish. It was packed in sealed packets.

A Navy spokesperson said that after interrogating all the suspicious ships in the vicinity, INS Tarkash, in collaboration with the Indian Navy’s third eye P8I maritime surveillance aircraft and the Maritime Operations Center in Mumbai, stopped a suspicious ship. During this, its helicopter was also sent to monitor the activities of the suspicious ship and identify other ships potentially operating in the area.

Information revealed during search and interrogation

The officer stated that several sealed packets were found inside the suspicious ship after a team of experts and Marine Commandos boarded it and conducted a thorough examination. He said that during the search and interrogation, it was found that more than 2,500 kg of narcotics were kept in various cargo holds and compartments on the ship.
