Indian Coast Guard Director Is Next Executive Director Of ReCAAP

Indian Coast Guard Director Natarajan was elected as the next Executive Director of ReCAAP, India beats China.

Director-General of Indian Coast Guard K Natarajan has been elected as the next Executive Director of ReCAAP. He was given this rank for combating piracy and armed piracy against ships in Asia.

The regional body is headquartered in Singapore. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended best wishes to K Natarajan on the occasion.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that the Indian candidate secured a two-thirds majority by securing 14 votes out of the total 21 member countries of the ReCAAP.

According to reports, the Indian candidate has defeated the candidates of China and the Philippines.

The DG Indian Coast Guard has been selected as the next Executive Director of the RECAAP Information Sharing Center in Singapore, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

The next Executive Director is expected to take over in 2022.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar saw the development of the Indian Coast Guard Director General’s selection as the next Executive Director of RECAAP as a fitting recognition of our contribution to maritime security.

Jaishankar tweeted that congratulations to DG Coast Guard on his election as the next Executive Director of RECAAP, Singapore.

Our contribution to maritime security deserves recognition.

RECAAP is the first regional government agreed to promote cooperation against maritime and armed piracy against ships in Asia.

The RECAAP agreement was launched in November 2006 with 14 Asian contracting parties including North, Southeast, and South Asian countries.

Center gives permission to use drones to NISER Bhubaneswar, will conduct an aerial survey of monuments.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has allowed the use of drones to the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar.

Aerial survey and photogrammetry of centrally protected monuments have been permitted in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) using drones.
