India warns UNSC about how Pakistan is misusing UN plateform , India has stated the unsuccessful attempt by Pakistan to list four Indian nationals under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee.
Pakistan had introduced the names of Indian citizens Angara Appaji, Gobinda Patnaik, Ajoy Mistry and Venumadhav Dongra for listing under the Council of Security 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee.
Pakistan’s attempt was thwarted last month when the United States, Britain, France, Germany, and Belgium banned the move to list Appaji and Patnaik. According to sources, no proof was given by Pakistan to list them.
Earlier, Pakistan’s attempt to list Mistry and Dongra was stopped by the Security Council around June / July.
Yedla Umashankar, First Secretary and Legal Advisor of India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations said, ‘We believe that the Security Council is an effective platform to combat international peace and terrorism.
But it must also be ensured that evidence the platform should not be misused to portray innocent civilians as terrorists.
Speaking on measures to end international terrorism in the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly, Umashankar said without naming Pakistan, “India has been a victim of sponsored terrorism on its borders and it is still continuing.”
We have already experienced the brutal relationship between international organized crime and terrorism. ”Umashankar said that India condemns terrorism in all its forms and no reason can justify terrorism. It also includes state-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
He said, ‘Our fight against terrorism should not be limited to the elimination of terrorists and terrorist organizations, but the countries responsible for this should be identified/apprehended and made accountable.
The United Nations Security Council met for the first time at the United Nations headquarters in New York. This is the first time since the COVID-19 epidemic in March.
After taking all sorts of preoccupations after wearing masks and being separated by plexiglass dividers, US Ambassador Kelly Kraft said it feels great to be home.
