India vs England Test Series: Indian team got a historic victory in the fourth test match, here are 5 big reasons.
On the night of September 3, not only at the Oval Stadium in London, only Virat Kohli and Team India’s weaknesses were being discussed in the entire cricketing world.
In the third session of the second day of the fourth Test of the five-Test series, England was bowled out for 290 in their first innings in reply to India’s 191 runs.
Team India, which was defeated by the third Test innings, was again heading towards defeat, but it does not happen as it is thought.
At the end of the second day’s play, India scored 43 runs without losing a wicket, but everyone was saying that Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were not in form.
Till then Pujara could score only one half-century in this series. Ravindra Jadeja could not do justice to his role. Virat was being criticized for not feeding Ravichandran Ashwin.
Virat himself could not score a century from 52 international innings and Rohit Sharma had never scored a Test century on foreign soil, but in the next three days, the almighty team India emerged after overcoming all the weaknesses.
India vs England Test Series: This was the turning point of the match.
On the first three days of this match, it seemed that either the Indian team will lose or the match will be drawn.
But on the fourth day Rohit Sharma’s century, and on the last day of Jasprit Bumrah’s reverse swing, Ravindra Jadeja’s skimpy spell, and at the crucial time.
Wickets for Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur left the British devastated. With this, India won the Test after 50 years by 157 runs at the Oval Stadium.
The Indian had earlier achieved this feat in 1971 under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar.
Now it has also been decided that Team India will not lose this series in England, as they have taken a 2-1 lead and the last match is to be held in Manchester from 10 September.
India vs England Test Series: All-rounder Shardul Thakur.
Due to Hardik Pandya’s inability to bowl in Tests and being unfit most of the time, Team India was looking for a great fast bowling all-rounder.
Shardul Thakur has taken seven wickets in this series with a crucial 117 runs in three innings of two Test matches. This includes two half-centuries playing down the order.
English captain Joe Root, who scored a century in the first three Tests of the current Test series, kept trying to avert England’s defeat.
But Shardul took the biggest wicket in the second session on Monday by bowling him.
Rohit, case fit.
Opener Rohit Sharma, who scored a century in India’s second innings, was adjudged man of the match. Rohit scored a century for the first time on foreign soil.
He even got injured during the second innings but continued to bat. As a result of this, India first left behind the lead of 99 runs and then put a big score in front of England.
Rohit Sharma has given a befitting reply to all the critics and he has been the main reason for India’s victory.
England’s weak batting.
England extended their second innings on Monday by 77 runs for no loss. On the final day, they needed 291 more runs to win, while India needed 10 wickets.
Looking at the way England openers Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns batted in the final session of the day on Sunday, it looked like the England team would not kneel easily.
However, after completing his half-century, Burns lost his wicket on the very next ball. Shardul, who came as a change, got him caught by Rishabh Pant.
Boom boom Burmah.
Pope and Bairstow were bowled by Bumrah. These two balls broke the back of England’s batting. Bumrah had brought the old ball in front of Pope, who scored 81 runs in the first innings.
The ball bowled on a good length ball, ripping Pope’s bat and pad, scattered the bails. With this Bumrah completed his 100 Test wickets. In his very next over, he bowled a yorker with extra thrust.
Bairstow neither stepped nor bat in front of this inswinger. He returned to the pavilion at zero.
After this, Moeen Ali was also sent to the pavilion by Jadeja without scoring a run. England then put up a light fight which was insufficient to avert their defeat.
