India Urges Canada to Act on 26 Extradition Requests and Arrest Lawrence Gang Members Amid Diplomatic Dispute

India urges Canada to take action on 26 pending extradition requests and arrest Lawrence gang members. The Indian Foreign Ministry criticizes Canada’s inaction and reiterates that no evidence has been provided to support Trudeau’s allegations against India.

India sent a list of 26 extradition requests to Canada and asked Canada to take action against Lawrence gang members, too,’ India told Trudeau again. The Indian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Canada has at least 26 extradition requests from India pending.

‘No arrest even after being asked’

At the same time, India alleged that it had also shared a request with Canada for the arrest of Lawrence gang members, but it did not take any action. They have not taken any action on our main concerns. There is also a political motive behind this.’

Canada did not provide any evidence: India

India on Thursday said that the current diplomatic dispute with Canada has escalated due to the baseless allegations of the Trudeau government. At the same time, India reiterated that no evidence has been shared to support Canada’s serious allegations against New Delhi.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that the admission by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a public inquiry shows how important the allegations made against India are. Earlier on Wednesday, Trudeau admitted that he had only intelligence and no concrete evidence when he accused Indian government agents of involvement in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year.

‘Confirmation of India’s stand’

The Ministry of External Affairs reacted to this on Thursday and said that what it has heard confirms New Delhi’s consistent stand that Canada has not presented any evidence to support the serious allegations against India and Indian diplomats. During the briefing, Jaiswal reiterated that Canada has not shared evidence so far.

“The current crisis (in India-Canada relations) has been caused by the baseless allegations of the Trudeau government,” he said. Responding to another question, Jaiswal said 26 extradition requests from India have been pending with Canada for a decade or more.
