India trying to extradite fugitive Nirav Modi soon, UK court has rejected the Nirav Modi’s appeal.

After the UK High Court dismissed the plea filed by fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi against his extradition in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam case.

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said it has looked into the verdict. India will continue efforts to extradite Nirav Modi to India to bring him to justice.

The UK High Court has dismissed the petition filed against the extradition to India by Nirav Modi, wanted in the scam related to Punjab National Bank.

The High Court’s decision comes two months after UK Home Minister Priti Patel ordered his extradition.

When asked about the extradition of Nirav Modi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in an online press conference, “We have seen the decision of the UK High Court yesterday which was against his appeal on the extradition order.”

Bombay High Court to hear Goa government’s appeal against Tarun Tejpal’s acquittal

The Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court will hear the Goa government’s appeal against the court’s decision to acquit journalist Tarun Tejpal in the 2013 rape case.

According to the news agency, the court has adjourned the hearing till July 29.

Giving an opportunity to the Goa government to amend his appeal, a division bench of Justice MS Sonak and Justice AS Jawalkar asked Tejpal to supply all relevant documents along with a copy thereof.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for Tejpal. Sibal told the court that we will take some time to prepare.

To this, the court said that it would hear the appeal on July 29. The court directed the government to rectify the petition within a week and then give a copy thereof.

On May 21, a sessions court in Goa had acquitted Tejpal, the former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine, in a sexual harassment case.
