India signs worth $ 400 million projects with World Bank to fight Corona epidemic.
India will work with the World Bank to fight the coronavirus epidemic and reduce its impact on the poor. For this, India signs worth $ 400 million projects to be done with the World Bank.
This is the second project launched by World Bank after May 2020. The first project was $ 750 million.
In view of the epidemic, the scope of social security of poor people will be strengthened under this project.
Dr. CS Mahapatra, Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, says that the epidemic has increased the risk of people working in other states.
This project will help in reducing such threats in future and the state governments will also be strengthened to deal with such problem.
Apart from this, this project will also help in increasing the scope of social security in future.
On behalf of the Government of India, this project has been signed by Dr. Mohapatra and Acting Country Director Sumila Gulayani on behalf of World Bank.
On behalf of the Ministry of Finance, it has been said that this project will not only increase the social security coverage of poor people, but also financial assistance can be provided.
Apart from migrant labor, urban laborers and laborers from other unorganized sectors will also be included in this.
Significantly, in April 2020, the World Bank proposed to provide financial assistance to the corona virus affected India. These financial assistance was around 76 billion rupees.
This assistance from the World Bank was given to spend on screening of covid-19 patients and to purchase personal protective equipment and to create new wards for patients.
