Imran Khan in trouble, talks of government not formed with TLP, Islamabad march continues.
The standoff between the government in Pakistan and the radical organization Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) continues.
In order to stop the TLP activists from moving towards Islamabad, the government held talks with the leaders of the organization but it ended without reaching a conclusion.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government will not come under pressure due to violence and anarchy.
While the TLP is not ready for anything less than the release of its chief Saad Rizvi from prison and the expulsion of the French ambassador from the country.
The TLP’s sit-in on GT Road near Lahore had begun last week following the refusal to expel the French ambassador.
On Wednesday, the organization announced the Islamabad March. When an attempt was made to stop him, a violent confrontation broke out between the supporters of the organization and the police.
In separate clashes, 19 people, including eight policemen, have been killed and over 400 have been injured. More than half of the injured are policemen.
The TLP’s march to Islamabad was also discussed in the meeting of the National Security Committee chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
It was attended by senior officials of the Government of Pakistan, top officials of the Army and ISI, and high officials of the administration.
Home Minister Sheikh Rashid has said that in the meeting it was agreed to maintain peace in the country at all costs. The government will deal with the agitation peacefully.
Issues will be resolved through dialogue. The jailed TLP chief Saad Rizvi will also be talked to.
But no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Anarchy will not be allowed to happen in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister’s Office has said that the attack by TLP workers on the police has been taken seriously. Such acts will not be tolerated.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has insisted that no group will be allowed to enter the capital of Islamabad to create violence and anarchy.
The government cannot be taken under pressure by violence and coercion.
