Hurriyat Leader Said That Center Should Solve Kashmir Problem

Hurriyat leader said that Center should carry forward Atal’s mission on Kashmir: Kashmir.

Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq, chairman of the moderate faction of the All Party Hurriyat Conference, on Friday, stressed the need to carry forward the mission of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He said that the Center should talk to everyone. He said the central government should follow Vajapayee’s policy to resolve the Kashmir issue.

A change in the constitutional position of Jammu and Kashmir will not solve the Kashmir issue.

In a brief conversation with the media via video conference for the first time on Friday after the last 19 months, Mirwaiz said that we were informed daily that the detention has come to an end.

He says that on the night of Thursday, police officers came and said that he would not be able to go to Jamia Masjid for the prayers of the Jummies because the house arrest has been started again. It is regrettable.

Mirwaiz said that on the one hand, the Union Home Minister says in Parliament in Delhi that there is no detention in Kashmir, there is no political prisoner, but here we are kept under house arrest.

Today I have spoken to the media for the first time after five August 2019. We have also been denied our religious rights. There are 82 gatherings today when I could not go to the Jamia Masjid for Namaz.

The Hurriyat leader said that we are accused that in the Jamia Masjid we talk politically, if we do not talk in the Jamia Masjid, it will be said. Jamia Masjid has been representing the voice of Kashmiris since the beginning.

Mirwaiz said that we have always talked about peace. We never talk about war, we want dialogue. India and Pakistan should negotiate.

Both countries should keep in mind that Kashmir is the real issue and Kashmiri people are the main aspect in it.

The sentiment of Kashmiris cannot be suppressed for long. Today everyone is insisting on dialogue. The Hurriyat has always been a supporter of dialogue and the dialogue should be Kashmir-centric.

It should include all sides. The Hurriyat has not changed its agenda and stands on Kashmir. The Kashmir issue is a reality, it has to be accepted by the Government of India.

By imposing sanctions, we will not change the reality of Kashmir by suppressing the voice of Kashmiris, the Kashmir issue will not be solved.

Narendra Modi will have to solve the Kashmir issue by following the path of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
