The hijab controversy that started in the schools and colleges of Karnataka will be heard in the Karnataka High Court today.

The Karnataka High Court has banned the wearing of the hijab, saffron scarf, or any dress of religious identity in educational institutions till the verdict comes.

However, in the meantime, schools up to class 10 are opening in Karnataka from today.

In view of the hijab controversy in the state, the Karnataka government, taking a vigil, has imposed section 144 around the schools.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has warned that those who create disturbances will be dealt with strictly.

In fact, on Thursday, a three-judge bench had heard the matter in the court. On Wednesday, Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi had constituted a three-judge bench, in which he himself included, for hearing.

Along with him, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice J M Khaji heard various petitions related to the issue.

During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner made several arguments against the government’s decision.

Let us inform you that Section 144 has been imposed within 200 meters of educational institutions in the Udupi district, which will continue till February 19.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility of uproar over this issue in the joint session of the Legislative Assembly starting from Monday.
