Hearing On The Petition Of The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Convict

Hearing on the petition of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict after three weeks: Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will hear after three weeks the plea seeking parole of AG Perarivalan, who is serving a life sentence in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

A vacation bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Dinesh Maheshwari took note of the fact that Perarivalan’s counsel has circulated a letter requesting an adjournment of the matter.

In its order, the bench said, “There is a letter (to adjourn the hearing). List the matter before an appropriate bench after three weeks.

Hearing on the petition: The court had on November 23 last year extended Perarivalan’s parole period by a week for medical examination.

SC ordered the Tamil Nadu government to accompany the doctor when he went to the hospital for examination.

Earlier, in an affidavit filed in the court on November 20, 2020, the CBI had said that the issue of pardoning Perarivalan was to be decided by the Governor of Tamil Nadu.

The CBI had said that Perarivalan was not the subject of further investigation by the CBI-led ‘Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency’ (MDMA).

MDMA is probing the aspect of ‘big conspiracy’ based on the report of the Jain Commission.

Rajasthan phone tapping case: Delhi Police sent notice to Mahesh Joshi, to be presented on June 24

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has issued notice to Rajasthan Congress leader Mahesh Joshi on Tuesday to appear before it on June 24 at 11 am in connection with the phone tapping case.

The Delhi Crime Branch is investigating the FIR of Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has alleged that the Congress government in Rajasthan is illegally tapping the phones of public representatives and they are being used as a political weapon.

However, last year, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had clarified this whole matter and said that this does not happen in Rajasthan, but his minister accepted in the assembly that it has happened.

Several MLAs and ministers of Rajasthan had also raised the issue.

Congress MLA VP Solanki said, ‘I don’t know whether my phone is being tapped or not. But many MLAs have said that mobile phones are being tapped.

Several officials also told the MLAs that it appeared that attempts were being made to tap their phones. The MLAs had given this information to the Chief Minister.
