Ghulam Nabi Azad Talks To Sonia Gandhi

Ghulam Nabi Azad talks to Sonia Gandhi and turns down the offer to become number-2 in Congress.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, who started his political innings with Indira Gandhi, refused to serve on the second most important post in Congress.

Azad has not been offered a ticket in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. However, before declaring the candidate for the Rajya Sabha, Sonia Gandhi spoke to Azad.

According to sources, in his conversation with Sonia Gandhi, he did not talk about the Rajya Sabha elections.

But Azad was asked whether he would feel comfortable working at the number-2 position in the organization.

Responding to this question, Azad said, “Today there is a generation gap between the youth running the party and us.

There is a huge difference between our thinking and their thinking, so the young leaders of the party are not ready to work with the old (veterans) leaders.

Let us inform you that Azad has been ill for the last few days and he was also admitted to the hospital. The date of the meeting has not been confirmed.

Imran Pratapgarhi got a Rajya Sabha ticket.

Congress party has decided to send minority wing president Imran Pratapgarhi to Rajya Sabha while promoting youth leadership.

According to sources, this decision was taken by Rahul Gandhi, on which Sonia Gandhi agreed. Imran is both ‘youth’ and ‘minority’.

Since Congress could not give tickets to the minorities, Sonia Gandhi asked Azad to join the organization.

Currently, Ghulam Nabi Azad is a member of the party’s working committee.

Let us tell you that with Azad going to the Rajya Sabha, the equations of the Congress leadership inside the Rajya Sabha could have deteriorated.

At present, Mallikarjun Kharge is the Leader of the Opposition, a post that was earlier held by Azad. Kharge was appointed the Leader of the Opposition after Azad retired.

Ghulam Nabi Azad is currently a member of the party’s Working Committee and a member of the Political Affairs Group recently formed by Sonia Gandhi.

Sources said that Azad is not even taking much interest in the work of the party for the last few days.

In the Chintan Shivir held in Udaipur, Azad spoke very little in the meetings of the committee.

The last time will pass under the flag of Congress: Azad.

However, according to sources, Sonia Gandhi did not tell Azad his specific role as to how he would get the number-2 status. Now all eyes are on Azad’s next step.

Azad, who had worked for the Congress for several decades, was offered to be sent to the Rajya Sabha by a regional party from Bihar.

He turned it down saying that ‘his last time will pass under the flag of Congress’.
