Garbage being thrown from Kerala to Tamil Nadu villages, and locals protested; Said-check posts should be closely monitored.

Political parties, social workers, and local people from Puthupatti Village in Tenkasi District of Tamil Nadu and Paniyankurichi Village in Tirunelveli District collect garbage from Kerala to their villages.

Selvaraj, a local farmer, told a news agency that the Tamil Nadu Govt should take up the issue with the Kerala government and from there eliminate the menace of dumping waste in Tamil Nadu villages.

“The waste that is thrown out in the open includes liquor bottles and plastic waste. The discarded bottles had Malayalam alphabets on their labels.”

Panchayat wrote a letter to District Collector.

Idakkal Panchayat has already written a letter to Tirunelveli District Collector in this matter.

Panchayat vice-president Dharmaraj told the media agency that a primary school and a sericulture unit are in the area near the farm, where Kerala waste is dumped and burnt.

Dharmaraj said that recently meat waste in a truck was dumped in the panchayat. People want a strict vigil at Tenkasi and Kanyakumari check posts to prevent the dumping of waste in Tamil Nadu.

Sharafuddin was arrested in Bangalore.

The police had arrested Sharafuddin from Bangalore in the case. He hails from the Wayanad district of Kerala.

According to the police, the accused had kept several SIM boxes with him which were at four places in Bengaluru. Police raided Bhuvaneshwarinagar, Chikkasandra, Siddheshwar, and other places.

In this sequence, the police seized 2,144 SIM cards, 58 SIM boxes, and electronic devices. This gang had the mastery of converting the international call into the local call.
