Former winner Simona Halep out of the tournament due to injury: French Open.

Former French Open winner Simona Halep dropped out of the tournament due to injury. She has not yet fully recovered from the calf injury.

Halep said on Friday that I will not be able to play in the French Open this year because I am still recovering from this injury.

Halep pulled out of the second round of the Italian Open last week against Angelique Kerber. Halep won the French Open title by defeating Sloan Stephens of America in the final in 2018. The tournament will begin on May 30.

Please tell that Hallep is the defending champion in Wimbledon. She won the title in 2019. Last year’s tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic.

This year’s Wimbledon tournament is scheduled to begin on June 28. Halep is also a three-time finalist at the French Open.

Arun Kumar Mendiratta, President of the Medical Commission of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), died in the hospital on Friday due to Covid-19. Mendiratta was to accompany the Indian contingent to the Tokyo Olympics.

The AFI mourned the demise of 60-year-old Mendiratta. He was also a member of the Asian Athletics Association for over 25 years.

AFI President Adile Sumariwala said, ‘He led AFI’s fight against age fraud and doping. He also played an important role in our no-needle policy (a policy in which athletes do not need any injection).

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) appointed Mendiratta as the Chief Medical Officer for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
