Along with this, he has also been fined Rs 1 lakh. During the sentencing on Saturday, the court said that in case of non-payment of penalty, additional punishment of 1 month will have to be imposed.

At the same time, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti was granted bail shortly after the Delhi High Court on a personal bond of Rs 20,000.

Explain that former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Malviya Nagar assembly seat Somnath Bharti was convicted on Friday in the case of assault and destruction of government property 4 years ago.

In fact, in 2016, the Chief Security Officer of AIIMS had complained to AAP MLA Somnath Bharti, besides several others, in Hauz Khas police station in connection with the assault on the security personnel.

In 2016, an employee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences was assaulted. According to the case, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Somnath Bharti along with his supporters beat up AIIMS employees.

After a years-long case, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Pandey on Saturday convicted Bharti in other sections including assaulting the Indian Penal Code, obstructing the work of a government employee, and damaging government property.

There is a provision of a maximum sentence of two years in all these cases. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Somnath Bharti is currently in jail in Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of using objectionable words against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Delhi Riots: Presumption of innocence should not be eliminated by media trial.

Hearing the plea of ​​JNU alumnus Umar Khalid, accused of Delhi riots, on Friday, the Karkardooma court said that the presumption of innocence at the beginning of the judicial process should not be abolished by media trials.

The court said that it hoped that the media would follow the rules set by it while reporting in the case in which investigation and hearing is going on.

Omar Khalid had filed a petition in the court a few days ago, alleging that the media was running a malicious campaign against him in the riot case.
