Five including four rebel PDP leaders join the people’s Conference: Jammu Kashmir.

People’s Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone, who described PM Narendra Modi as his elder brother and trying to increase his base in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir, got big support on Saturday.

Among them are two former members of Rajya Sabha, a former MLC and a former president of the women’s wing of the PDP.

Four rebel leaders of the People’s Democratic Party joined the People’s Conference.

These include two former Rajya Sabha members Mir Fayaz Mir and Nazir Ahmed Laway, a former MLC Murtaza Khan and former PDP women’s wing president Safina Baig.

Five Including Four Rebel PDP Leaders Join PC: So far, many senior leaders have broken ties with the PDP, one by one.

Along with them Sheikh Imran, former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation also became a part of the People’s Conference. He was independent.

Nazir Laway had contested the 2014 assembly elections from the Kulgam seat on a PDP ticket and lost to CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami.

Mir Fayaz Mir was fielded by PDP in the 2014 assembly elections from Kupwara seat and he lost to Bashir Dar of the People’s Conference there.

These two leaders who lost in the assembly elections were given by the then Chief Minister Late. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed fielded Rajya Sabha seats from North Kashmir and South Kashmir.

Both were elected Rajya Sabha members. Both of them were running angry with the PDP during June 2018.

Mir Fayaz Mir contested and campaigned for his brother in Kupwara as an independent despite the PDP boycotting the municipal elections.

After August 5, 2019, both of them started looking separate from the PDP, and at the beginning of this year, both of them completely distanced themselves from the PDP.

At the same time, former MLC Murtaza Khan, who joined the PC, was once counted among the close relatives of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and belongs to the Poonch district of the Jammu division.

Apart from him, former PDP women’s wing president Safina Baig has also joined the People’s Conference. Safina Baig is currently the chairperson of DDC Baramulla.

Her husband Muzaffar Hussain Baig has been one of the founding members of the PDP. He has also been a patron of the PDP but had severed ties with the PDP last year.

He has also been the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Sheikh Imran, former deputy chairman of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, has also become a part of the People’s Conference.

Sajjad Gani Lone said that these people will make our organization stronger. All these leaders are experienced.

We had several options:

Former Rajya Sabha members Nazir Ahmed Laway and Mir Fayaz Mir said that we have chosen the People’s Conference with great care.

We also had the option of our party, Congress and BJP, but we realized that Sajjad Gani Lone is doing politics on purely practical issues.

He wants only and only the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and a strong Jamhooriyat in Jammu and Kashmir.
