Farooq Abdullah Said– PAGD Will Participate In Assembly Elections

Farooq Abdullah said– PAGD will participate in future assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday dispelled the speculation about the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) contesting the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

We will fight whenever elections are held, he said. We are not running away from elections. NC will contest the elections.

He did not make it clear whether the NC would contest the elections alone or whether all the constituents under the banner of PAGD would field their common candidate.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the CPI(M) and Awami National Conference are also major constituents of the PAGD.

Addressing the journalists of the PAGD meeting in the presence of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah opposed the process of delimitation and said that we will contest the elections.

No one should have any doubt about this, but the drama going on here in the name of delimitation gives trouble.

This is not happening to empower the people of J&K but to benefit the BJP and to make the unconstitutional process of abrogation of Article 370 constitutional.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that the BJP is hopeful that after the delimitation, it will form the government on the basis of the maximum number of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

He wants the government to be formed somehow and pass the resolution of 5 August 2019 in the Legislative Assembly.

He will use this resolution against our petition filed in the Supreme Court against the J&K Reorganization Act and justify himself.

Responding to the question of delimitation, he said that this is happening only under the agenda of the BJP.

All the prescribed rules have been flouted in this. He said that the assembly constituencies have been fixed in an irrational way.

Pointing towards Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi, he said that he has become an MP by winning the election from Anantnag itself.

Ask him how long will it take him to go to Rajouri-Poonch, does Rajouri-Poonch has any relation with Anantnag.

The process of delimitation will further increase the feeling of alienation from the national mainstream among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to the question related to the ongoing war in Russia-Ukraine, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that this war should end.

Otherwise, the third world war will start in the whole world, inflation will increase, oil prices will touch the sky.

War does not benefit the common people, we should pray that this war ends and peace prevails in the whole world.

On not participating in the vote on the issue of the Russia-Ukraine war in the United Nations, he said that it is not my subject.

Only the representative of India in the United Nations can give the correct answer.
