Exemption of small gatherings in each phase to political parties, ban on roadshows and rallies will continue till January 31.

In the midst of the Corona crisis, the Election Commission has given great relief to the political parties engaged in conducting safe elections.

Under this, Parties will now be able to hold small public meetings after the process of nomination of candidates in each phase is over.

However, the maximum number of people in it will remain five hundred.

Along with this, the commission has fixed the time limit for holding small meetings in the first and second phases of elections.

Exemption of small gatherings in each phase to political parties: Relief is given in the door-to-door campaign.

In the first phase, such small meetings will start from January 28, while in the second phase elections will be held from February 1.

However, with this relief, the commission has extended the ban on roadshows and rallies till January 31.

The Election Commission has announced some relaxation on Saturday after reviewing the situation of corona infection with the top officials of the five electoral states.

The door-to-door campaign has doubled the number of people participating.

Till now, only five people apart from the security forces were allowed for door-to-door campaigning, but now they will be able to include ten people apart from the security forces.

The publicity allowed through video van in the open.

The commission has also given permission for publicity through video vans. However, through this only publicity will be allowed in open areas.

In which a maximum crowd of five hundred people or half of the total capacity of the ground will be allowed to gather.

Earlier indoor meetings were allowed with a maximum of three hundred people or half the current capacity.

Set a deadline for holding small meetings.

The commission has also fixed a time limit for holding small meetings in the first and second phases.

In the first phase, such meetings can be held from January 28 till February 8, the deadline for the elections to end.

Whereas in the second phase of elections, this exemption to hold small meetings will be from February 1 to February 12 till the period of campaigning stops.

EC has made it clear during this time that all these meetings will be allowed to a maximum crowd of five hundred people or the lesser of half of the capacity of the ground in which the meeting is being held.

The capacity of the ground will be determined by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). At the same time, the review of the situation will be done again on January 31.

After which a decision will be taken to take new steps or give relief.

Significantly, the Election Commission has banned rallies and roadshows with the announcement of assembly elections in five states, which will now continue till January 31.
