Election Petition Filed Against Scindia In High Court

Election petition filed against Scindia in High Court, accused of hiding criminal cases. An election petition has been filed against Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Former Minister Dr. Govind Singh has alleged that Scindia contested the Rajya Sabha election by hiding information about criminal cases registered against him, so his election should be canceled and fresh election should be held.

It has been emphasized in the petition that Scindia has violated the rules of the Rajya Sabha elections. According to the rules, criminal cases should also have been given in the nomination papers, but hidden. Therefore the election should be reduced to zero.

The election petition stated that in the year 2018, FIR was registered against former Chief Ministers Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia at Shyamala Hills police station in Bhopal.

Which was also publicly accepted by Scindia. He is no longer in the Congress and has been elected a Rajya Sabha member from the BJP. In his nomination papers submitted to the Rajya Sabha, Scindia hid him by not presenting the information about the said case.

This is a violation of Election Commission rules. In the last Rajya Sabha elections in the state, BJP got two seats and Congress got one seat.

Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sumersinh Solanki were declared victorious from BJP while Digvijay Singh was declared victorious from Congress. Another Congress candidate Phool Singh Baraiya lost the election.

Highest 57 votes were received by Digvijay Singh, 56 for Scindia and 55 votes for Sumersinh Solanki. 206 MLAs took part in the voting. In the biennial elections for 61 seats of the Rajya Sabha across the country, 72 per cent of the new faces had managed to reach the upper house for the first time.

These faces included leaders such as Jyotiraditya Scindia to KC Venugopal who were elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time in their political life.
