During the last year, close to a dozen BJP workers have been martyred in various terror attacks in the Valley.
On August 9 this year, terrorists killed a Sarpanch belonging to the BJP and his Panch wife while firing at their house in Anantnag.
Earlier on June 2, 2021, terrorists killed BJP leader and Tral Municipal Committee chairman Rakesh Pandita in Tral.
On 29 March 2021, two councilors belonging to the BJP were martyred in a terrorist attack in Sopore.
Earlier on July 8, 2020, in Bandipore, terrorists killed BJP leader Wasim Bari in his house along with his father Bashir Ahmed and brother Umar Sultan.
Wasim’s father and brother were also BJP workers. About a month later, on 9 August 2020, BJP leader Abdul Hameed Najar was martyred in the terrorist attack in Ompora, Budgam.
On August 6, three days before the killing of Abdul Hameed Nazir in Budgam, Sajjad Ahmed Khande, a sarpanch belonging to the BJP, was martyred in a terrorist attack at Vessu Qazigund.
After this, on 23 September 2020, BJP pro-Block Development Council chairman S Bhupendra Singh was martyred by terrorists outside his house in Budgam.
On 29 October 2020, 3 BJP workers Fida Hussain Yattu, Umar Rashid Baig, and Umar Ramzan Hajjam were first abducted by terrorists in Kulgam and then all three were martyred.

Army Goodwill School located in Chandigam village of Kupwara along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir is now renamed as Abdul Hameed Chara Army Goodwill School.
To keep the sacrifice and bravery of Shaurya Chakra awardee martyr Rifleman Abdul Hameed Chara alive forever for the younger generation, the Army on Tuesday named the school after the martyr.
