Doctor thrashed mercilessly in Assam, 24 arrested, deadly attack on the doctor after death of corona patient.
Seuj Kumar Senapati, a government hospital doctor in the Hojai district of Assam, was mercilessly thrashed by several people.
Police have arrested 24 people in this case. A woman was also among those who beat up the doctor. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called the incident a barbaric act and promised justice to the doctor.
The doctors who were attacked are posted at Udali Covid Care Center in the Hojai district.
It is known that after the death of a Covid patient on Tuesday due to lack of oxygen, his relatives started beating the doctor.
The furious assailants started hitting the doctor with whatever came in their hands apart from kicks and punches.
After this, he was dragged out of the ward and beaten mercilessly there too. Seeing the attitude of the furious attackers, no one even tried to save the doctor.
The Chief Minister tweeted, ’24 culprits involved in the brutal attack have been arrested and the charge sheet will be filed soon.
I am personally monitoring the investigation and promise to get justice. The Chief Minister who has just gone to Delhi has also mentioned the names of 22 out of 24.
Special Director General of Assam Police GP Singh has told in a tweet that the main facilitator is also included among those arrested.
Along with this, the conspirators of the incident have also been caught. Further action in this regard continued on June 2.
Meanwhile, 4,178 new cases of corona infection have been registered in Assam in the last 24 hours while 61 people have died.
In the official information shared by the state government, it has been said that 4,20,076 cases of corona infection have been registered so far while 3,477 people have died due to the epidemic.
