Do not hesitate in giving loans to businessmen: Reserve Bank to private sector banks.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has asked private sector banks to maintain continuity in the financial services being provided to various sectors.

He held a meeting with the heads of private banks on Tuesday. In this, he asked banks not to indulge in disbursement of loans to businessmen and industries to deal with the corona crisis.

Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das had a similar meeting this month with the MD and CEO of state-run banks.

In a meeting with the heads of leading private banks, Shaktikanta Das asked them to prominently and swiftly implement all the announcements that he had made on the fifth of this month.

These included several other announcements, including a term loan of Rs 50,000 crore to the healthcare sector.

Other measures included increasing credit facilities for the MSME sector, restructuring debt, ease of knowing your customer (KYC) compliance and others.

RBI said in a statement on Tuesday that in view of the seriousness of the Corona crisis, the governor directed private banks to maintain continuity in credit facilities to their customers.

Do not hesitate in giving loans: In particular, small and medium industries have been asked not to interrupt the flow of credit.

According to the statement, the meeting discussed in detail the compliance of Covid-19 resolution framework 1.0, compliance with measures taken in monetary policy and liquidity situation.

RBI Deputy Governors MK Jain, M. Rajeshwar Rao, Michael D. Patra and T. Rabi Shankar were also present at the meeting.
