Tennis legend Novak Djokovic defeated Yannick Sinner in the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Tuesday to secure a place in the semi-finals.

He has won 10 of his 11 appearances in five sets at this venue, with the Serbian’s last loss being in 2006.

Novak Djokovic is his 84th win at Wimbledon, equaling Jimmy Connors’ record. In this case, only the legendary Roger Federer is ahead of him.

Germany’s Tatyana Maria, 34, defeated compatriot Jule Niemeyer 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the women’s singles quarter-finals to seal her place in the last four.

Maria ranked 103rd in the world rankings and has reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time.

For a place in the finals, she will have to face the winner of the match between third seed Ons Jebur or unseeded Mary Bojkova.

Maria is only the sixth woman in the Open era to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals at this age.

Twenty-two-year-old Niemeyer, playing her second Grand Slam, looked very disappointed after this defeat. Earlier, she was eliminated in the opening round of the French Open.

Badminton Asia Technical Committee apologizes to Olympic medalist PV Sindhu

Badminton Asia (BAC) technical committee chairman Chih Shen Chen has apologized to two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu for a human error committed by the referee during the women’s singles semi-final match of the Badminton Asia Championships in April.

Sindhu had tears in her eyes after an unfair decision by the umpires in the middle of her semi-final match against Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.

After this decision, Sindhu’s rhythm got disturbed and she had to be content with the bronze medal after facing defeat. Sindhu is a member of the World Badminton Federation (BWF) Athletes Commission.

She immediately wrote a letter to the world body and the Badminton Confederation of Asia opposing the decision.
