Differentiating Heart Attack, Cardiac Arrest, and Heart Failure: Essential Heart Health Insights.

Differentiating Heart Attack, Cardiac Arrest, And Heart Failure: Understanding the crucial distinctions between heart attack, cardiac arrest, and heart failure is vital for everyone concerned about heart health.

Learn about symptoms, causes, and life-saving interventions. If you also consider heart attack, cardiac arrest, and heart failure as one, then know the difference between them.

Keeping in mind the increasing cases of heart disease, it is very important to have information about all the important things related to heart health. You must have heard about many heart conditions, of which heart failure, heart attack, and cardiac arrest are the most common.

Although these three conditions are quite different from each other, many times, people consider them to be the same because all three problems are related to the heart and can be fatal.

Therefore, today we are going to explain to you the difference between these three heart conditions. Let us know how heart attack, heart failure, and cardiac arrest are different from each other.

What is heart attack?

Sudden cardiac arrest is another name for cardiac arrest. Due to some kind of problem with the blood circulatory system of the body, the right amount of blood does not reach the heart, due to which the required amount of oxygen does not reach the heart.

Because of this, the heart muscles start to stop working. Heart attack is also called myocardial infarction.

The most common reason for heart attack is blockage or narrowing of the arteries due to high cholesterol levels. Due to this reason, blood is not able to reach the heart properly. Due to a lack of proper blood supply, heart muscles start dying. This problem is called coronary artery disease.

Apart from this, sometimes spasms occur suddenly in the arteries, due to which blood is not able to flow to the heart. Heart symptoms include heart pain, shortness of breath, pain in arms, shoulders, or jaws, nausea, and dizziness.

What is cardiac arrest?

Sudden cardiac arrest is another name for cardiac arrest. In this condition, the electrical signals of the heart get interrupted. Due to this reason, the heart suddenly stops beating. Due to this reason, the risk of death is very high.

This condition is caused by other heart-related problems like arrhythmia or heart attack. In the condition of cardiac arrest, due to the heartbeat stopping, the heart is not able to pump blood and the blood is not able to reach other parts of your body like the brain, lungs, etc.

In this condition, if immediate help is not provided, a person can die within a few minutes. Symptoms of cardiac arrest include difficulty in breathing, fainting, irregular heartbeat, and respiratory arrest.

What is heart failure?

The disease known as heart failure occurs when the heart cannot adequately pump blood. Due to this, blood does not reach every part of the body properly, due to which there is a lack of oxygen. In this the heart is not able to function properly, hence it is called heart failure or congestive heart failure.

One reason for heart failure could be that the heart muscles have become so weak that they are unable to contract properly, due to which blood is not able to reach the lungs for gas exchange. Another reason could be that the heart muscles have become stiff, due to which the heart is not able to be filled with the right amount of blood. Both these reasons can lead to the condition of heart failure.

Its symptoms include weakness, fatigue, difficulty in breathing, lips and fingers turning blue, difficulty in lying straight, and feeling weak.
