Circle Inspector Durga Prasad of Three Town Police Station said that the incident was carried out between three and five o’clock in the early hours of Friday.

Policemen were patrolling the area till three o’clock, when everything was fine there. At five o’clock the priest of the temple came and found the statue broken.

He said that it seems to be the work of some mischievous elements.

Prasad said that CCTV cameras have been installed in the temple, but no one had an angle towards the statue, from which nothing has been found.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC. The local leader of the TDP is a trustee of the Ganni Krishna temple.

Meanwhile, Sajjal Ramakrishna Reddy, general secretary of the YSR Congress Party, has alleged that TDP workers or its supporters may be behind the demolition of the temple.

He also said that the ruling party has nothing to do with this incident.

India expressed strong opposition to the demolition of temples in Pakistan

In Terry village of Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday, the crowd broke an ancient temple and also insulted the tomb of the saint built there.
