Last week, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated two Centers of Excellence of the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
BRO was set up to promote the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, etc. as well as to ensure road safety.
Officials said a Center of Excellence will institutionalize the experience gained by the BRO in developing about 60,000 km of roads, 56,000 meters of bridges, 19 airstrips, and four tunnels in the eastern and north-western parts of the country.
Both the centers have been set up at the BRO headquarters in the national capital.
The Defense Ministry said these centers have been set up to achieve excellence in road safety as well as promotion in the construction of roads, bridges, airstrips, and tunnels.
In his address on the occasion, Defense Minister Singh addressed both the centers.
Appreciated the efforts of BRO in setting up the BRO and expressed confidence that they would play an important role in saving the precious lives of the people.
