Defending champion France lost to Croatia, and lost the title of the Nations League competition.

Defending champion France lost their Nations League title after a 0-1 loss to Croatia and is now in danger of slipping into the second-tier league.

Meanwhile, their group-toppers Denmark strengthened their chances of reaching the last four with a 2-0 win over Austria. Denmark has nine points, two points more than the second-placed team Croatia.

Only the team that tops the group will advance. Austria is third in the group with four points, while France is in the last place with two points after not winning four matches in a row.

The last-placed team slips to the lower-tier league.

For Croatia in the fifth minute, midfielder Luka Modric converted a penalty which proved decisive in the end. Croatia will now host Denmark on 22 September, which will decide the team that tops the group.

Australia qualified for the World Cup.

Australia qualified for the World Cup for the fifth time in a row after beating Peru 5-4 in a penalty shootout in the intercontinental play-offs.

Both the teams failed to score in the regular and extra time of the match played at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium after which a penalty shootout resorted.

Goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, who was sent on the field in the final moments of extra time in place of captain Matt Ryan, eventually proved to be Australia’s star.

He led the team to victory by saving Alex Valera’s last penalty. Australia will take on defending champions France in their first match of the World Cup on 22 November.

Apart from these two, Tunisia and Denmark are included in Group D.

AFC Asian Cup 2023: India created history, and made it to the AFC Asia Cup for the second time in a row.

The Indian team got happy news ahead of the match against Hong Kong to be played in the Asia Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

The team benefited from Palestine’s big win over the Philippines and qualified for the AFC Asia Cup 2023.
