The flood situation in Assam continues to remain grim due to the spate of rivers. The Brahmaputra, Barak and their tributaries are wreaking havoc.
About 55 lakh people have been affected by this natural calamity. Seven more people have died at different places due to the floods.
This year, 89 people have lost their lives due to the natural calamity. According to officials, NDRF personnel have been sent from Bhubaneswar to Assam.
The situation remained critical in Karimganj and Kachar districts as the water level of the Barak and Kushiara rivers increased.

2.16 lakh people from 506 villages in Kachar and 1.47 in 454 villages in Karimganj have been affected by the floods.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 55,42,053 people in 32 of the state’s 36 districts have been affected by the floods.
Barpeta is the worst affected district, where 12.51 lakh people have been affected. Due to the incessant rains, 2.62 lakh people have taken shelter in 862 relief camps due to the floods.
Flood also affected crops and animals.
Relief work agencies rescued 11,292 people and 27,086 cattle from the flooded areas in the last 24 hours.
Urban areas of Barpeta, Kachar, Darang, Gwalpara, Kamrup, and Karimganj are also facing flood situations.
A total of 1,13,485.37 hectares of crops and 33,84,326 animals have been affected by the floods.

Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma had visited several relief camps a few days back. At the same time, due to floods in Bangladesh, there has been a humanitarian crisis.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and director Rohit Shetty for their contribution of Rs 5 lakh to the CM Relief Fund to help the flood-affected people in the state.
