Corona in Bengal: In view of the increasing outbreak of Corona, Bangladesh extended the period of border sealing after getting the Indian variety of Covid-19.

Bangladesh has extended the ban on movement on the border with India for 14 days, hours after six cases of an Indian variety of Covid-19 were revealed.

The border of Bangladesh adjacent to it was sealed on 26 April in view of the worsening situation of Coronavirus in India.

It is worth noting that Bangladesh has a 4,097 km long border with India, with a border of about 2,200 km with West Bengal alone.

A Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry spokesman said, “In view of the situation of Kovid-19, the decision to keep the border with India closed has been extended for 14 more days.”

Saying that the border should be closed, the roadways should not be opened till the situation in India improves. However, the spokesperson said that the movement of goods through these routes will remain unchanged.

He said that Bangladeshis who are at risk of getting stuck on the expiry of the visa period can return home from Petrapole-Benapole, Akhaura, and Burimari borders.

But only after obtaining NOC from the Bangladesh Mission in New Delhi, Kolkata, and Agartala.

The decision to seal the border came after six people in Bangladesh were found infected with the Indian version of covid-19.

Corona in Bengal: Bengal government convened a meeting of industries, plantations on May 10 for protection from Covid-19.

The Government of Bengal has convened a meeting of the parties connected with factories and tea gardens tomorrow on 10 May in which there will be a discussion about ensuring the safety of workers.

Sources gave this information here on Saturday. In view of the threat of Covid 19, the state government has instructed the tea gardens to call only 50 percent of the workforce in a shift.

Similarly, in jute mills, there is a rule to limit the number of laborers in a shift to 30 percent.

“A virtual meeting will be held on May 10, which will be chaired by the Principal Secretary, Department of Labor,” the sources said.

The meeting will discuss how to ensure epidemic safety of workers working in industries, factories, mills, manufacturing units, and tea gardens and the effective role of management will be considered in the strict implementation of various guidelines.
