Controversy Erupted Over Summoning Of Chief Secretary

Controversy erupted over summoning of Chief Secretary and DGP By Governor in Punjab, Congress-BJP face to face.

Law and order in Punjab and the summoning of Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan and DGP Dinkar Gupta by Governor VP Singh Badnore have taken a political turn in the case of attacks on BJP leaders.

Controversy has erupted over the entire matter and questions are being raised whether the Governor can do so.

Explain that under the guise of farmer movement in Punjab, the mobile towers of a company are being damaged and their electricity is being cut.

BJP leaders and their homes are also under attack. That is why the Governor has called both officials.

Congress said – If there is a government in the state, the Governor cannot summon the DGP and the Chief Secretary.

BJP leaders met Governor VP Singh Badnaur in this matter. After this, Governor Badnore summoned the two senior officers by issuing an order.

Although the order did not give details of which day they will appear before them. Four days later, neither the Chief Secretary nor the DGP has met the Governor.

With this, the dispute has definitely erupted in political circles by the order of the Governor.

Congress state president Sunil Jakhar said that the Congress has been supportive of the autonomy of constitutional posts, but the Governor does not accept any interference in the jurisdiction of the state.

He said that Punjab is neither West Bengal nor Puducherry where governors are joining local politics.

He said that such action being done in reverse of the Constitution will be opposed. He said that an elected government exists in the state.

On the other hand, BJP leader and former Minister Manoranjan Kalia said that the Governor can do so.

BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh said that if the government is ignoring the people then the people holding constitutional posts have full right to take reports from the Chief Secretary and DGP.

Mohan Jain, who has been the Additional Solicitor General in the Supreme Court, says that constitutionally the Governor is the head of the state.

He can summon the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to give directions regarding law and order.

He has legal authority in this regard, but usually, the Governor does not exercise such authority and he makes his point applicable through the Chief Minister.

Now it has to be seen when the Governor summons the Chief Secretary and DGP and whether he does or not. But till then such rhetoric will continue in the ruling party and opposition.
